Aaaah! She's worried about middle school

Dear PLS,
I'm going to be in middle school and I'm freaked out about where I'm I gonna sit when i get in the bus!! I feel so uncomfortable with the fact that I'm going to be like a kindergarteners because of the fact that I'm new to school. I feel that I need advice. Answer these questions please:

Where am I gonna sit the first day of school?
How do I open my lockers fast with a combination?

Thank you so much,
Liliana, 12

Dear Liliana,

Me, too! I'm going into middle school this month. First of all, I'm sorry to say this, but I'm unable to answer the first question since I don't know where your seat would be, but number two, I can answer. The answer to that would be practice. My brother got a locker earlier last school year, and he had a hard time with it, and he was in high school! So, unfortunately, there isn't some type of magic spell that can get us to do the locker combos faster.

You'll be fine! just find some friends to sit next to and the locker thing.. its not a biggie... ill be in 8th grade and i can tell you once you experience 6th its all downhill from there.. you just need to know that this is when the changes happen.. and things may be a tad akward in the begining but just know it gets easier!

You could sit in the front where the view is good, and you can hear the teacher clearly!? If you want. And I don't use a combination locker, so I can't really help you there.

Liliana, with the lockers, until you get the hang of it, the teachers won't make you late. You'll learn. I had to open all my friends' lockers the first week, but by the 2nd, they were whizzes at it. Also, almost everyone is new in middle school. You're not going to be kindergarten rank. Happy Schooling!

Hey! I am starting my last year of elementary school this year in a few days. My older sister is a senior in high school. She said that she practiced her combo for her locker a ton of times before the first day of middle school. You just have to practice. And about your seat on the bus. Just sit down next to some friends. If none of your friends ride the bus, then sit next to some one who looks nice. Ask if you can sit next to them. Before you know it you could have a new friend.

Sitting on the bus is no big deal. I actually would recommend not sitting with your friends on the first day, since there will be plenty of time later. Meet someone new: it is a new grade, a new school, and there will be plenty of new opportunities, like making new friends! My school has locks for our gym lockers and honestly, practice makes perfect. I spent half an hour trying to open that thing, and then my friend came over, twiddled with it for a bit, and it popped right open! I made her show me how to do it half a dozen times more before I got it. If it doesn't work the first time, try, try again!

My school is kind of weird, we start middle school in fifth grade, so technically I have been through the first year of middle school, and it's no biggie. Just stick with your friends (don't let them escape!), and of course you have to make some new ones. On the bus, if you see one of your friends, good for you! Sit with them, but if you don't, sit next to a girl who looks nice. She may be your long lost bff, who knows!

Here's some advice, I'm going to middle school next year too, and I'm nervous. If your friends are going to the same school as you, just hang with them. But if you're getting bullied, just ignore him/her. Don't become a bully, bullies are trouble. I'm in the 6th grade, but going to 7th will be an adventure.
If you ride the bus, sit to either your friend(s), or some one that looks nice. He/she may become your BFF. Personalize your locker any way you like (putting a mirror on the door, stickers, etc.). Make your combination quick and easy (But don't let anyone else know it, especially a bully!) So there's your advice!

I had my first day of middle school YESTERDAY and here's some advice. You dont want to be stuck not knowing who anybody is and be in theis shsde of akwardness. Sit next to a girl who seems nice, and introduce yourself.

Like I`ve said before people, calm down!!!
It`s just school, it`s not the same as moving halfway round the glob from onr day too the other, like I constently have too.
So take a deep breath and write the worst that could happen. Then tear it into shreds and write down the beast that could happen on a tiny pice of paper (TINY) and through it out the window.

I am worried about opening combinations at my locker at school. Do you even have to have a number lock? Can't you have a word one? Oh, and I have some tips for older - people bullying. (If it is really getting out of hand, tell a trusted adult!!!) If an older kid picks on you, try out smarting them with words, not hurting them, but you need to know when to do it. After all, it might help if you have a good reputation. Try saying "Would you really want to ruin your life by messing with an innocent little 6th grader? Are you sure you want to intimidate me with your big actions? Isn't there something you'd rather be doing? I'll let you think about it, and walk away..." Don't be afraid to laugh at your self with the older people. And if a friend gets picked on, help them out! Hope this helped!

I'm pretty sure most of us were nervous on our first day of middle school. Just think, I was told this too by the way, your parents would never feed you to the lions, which means they wouldn't send you to a really bad school. Maybe before school starts, get to know a few friends that are going to your school and friends that will be going on the same bus as you. Get at least one or two friends on the bus so you'll always have someone to sit with. Don't worry, pretty soon, you'll have lots of new friends, and school will be soo much fun for you! I hope this helped you lots!
