Time's Flying for Nelle

I sometimes complain that time moves too slowly, especially when I'm waiting for something like my birthday or a party or the end of the school day. But Nelle is having just the opposite feeling - like time's just moving too fast.

dear pls,
i feel like everything is happening way too fast. it feels like yesterday i was in kindergarten and now i'm in 7th grade. wat should i do?

We can't slow down time for Nelle, but maybe we can give her some ideas on how to feel more comfortable about growing up. There's good stuff about getting older, and hopefully wiser!

Think pink!

I feel like that sometimes too. It never hurt to talk to an adult you trust. Love your life and stay positive, and you'll feel better about growing up.

Try to stop thinking about how fast everything is going and focus on the present, what's happening in 7th grade. Don't let your mind wander any farther than that spelling bee in April. Also, every time you feel like time is just moving way too fast, stop for a few minutes, even if it's during class, and remember everything you can about the time frame you're thinking about. Try to attach at least one memory, good or bad, to each. HOPE I HELPED!!
PS. Maybe, stop and smell the roses a bit more, too.
PPS. Has any of you lovely ladies I consider my friends read 'When You Reach Me' By Rebecca Stead? I have and it's AMAZING. I couldn't stop smiling after I read it!

I understand what you mean!!! Being even a bit older than you. I know it can be super scary at times--everything seems to go so fast as you get older...huh? But instead of focusing on how fast life is, focus on how to make the most of your time. If you spend time doing things besides the computer, like playing outside with your friends, getting involved in sports, reading, etc. you'll find life isn't as fast as you thought. Yes, life is still fast, but how about we enjoy our time here by not worrying about how fast life is, and just make every minute count?! I am learning this as I get older.
It used to scare me to until I realized even though sometimes we don't feel ready to let go of being little, there are so many things that come with being older that are exciting, like driving for instance.

Good luck! I'm praying for you.

I think you should just take your time growing up. It's taking me a long to grow up. So just take your time. OKAY?
