Question 10: Piper's sweating her sweat

Everybody sweats. It's your body's way of cooling off. But Piper says she feels her perspiration has gotten out of hand.

Dear PLS,
I'm asking this question a second time because i REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, need an answer!! my life is sooooo uncomfortable! i sweat A-lot, and you can see it through my shirt under my arm pits! it's embarrassing!! please help...i don't know why it's happening because 1. i wear deodorant and 2. i haven't hit puberty yet!

what do i do to prevent it? i always have to wear a t-shirt or sweat-shirt to cover it up...it's mid-winter! no one else in my grade has this problem! I NEED SERIOUS HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Piper, 12

Did you ever have a pimple or maybe you discovered you were wearing only one earring? OMG, you say to yourself: how embarrassing! Except that it was only you who noticed. I'm thinking that this might be going on with Piper's sweat situation. If this is the case, try just wearing deodorant/antiperspirant and maybe don't think about it so much.

If you think that you might have a real problem, tell a parent and ask your doctor. Some people do sweat more than others and your doctor can give you some advice if you're one of them. Learn more about sweat here:

P.S. Any other advice about sweating? Do tell!

Jemma, since you didn't post my ? I am putting it up here, maybe you could answer it for me?
My BFF invited me to a sleepover, and I want to go but one thing, all the girls are more mature then me and I think they will leave me out and talk about the PBB's! Also, when we change into our pajama's the girls will see how flat I am, and see my training bra. they all wear cup bras and have bigger breasts then me! Oh, and I, well, I am kind of, afraid of the dark, I know that sounds weird because i am 11, but I really am! And i can't tell her to turn on a nightlight, she knows I am afraid, but I can't tell everyone else!

P.S I use my middle name on here sometimes.

I know, it is pretty embarressing to sweat alot. I never sweat A LOT, but I do have B.O! That is the most embarressing part! I would talk to your doctor, he might give you some kind of perscription deoderant. Or maybe the kind you have just isn't strong enough? What kind do you use?

kathleen, just try sleeping without a night light. a sulution is when u think the other girls r sleeping, u go into ur sleeping bag and u use a keychain flash light as ur night light.

If you sweat a lot just make sure you take showers every day and wear deodorant. I do both of these. I go to gymnastics for four hours, three days a week, and with deodorant and showers I am clean and sweat-free.

Make sure you use an antiperspirant deodorant. Because an antiperspirant deodorant neutralizes the smell of sweat as well as stops you from sweating.

good luck

Put deodorant on after a shower! If your already doing that and your still smelly, try a new deodorent brand because the kind your using may not be strong enough.

Maybe you need to put on less layers of clothes. Like at school I wear jeans and track pants. And the same thing happens to me! so today after school I put on shorts and a tank top and now I'm not hot anymore!

Maybe switch deoderants. After gym or exercising reapply the antiperspirant to have total coverage. Try not to wear things that are too hot. Be confident and do not get nervous. Sweating more is also a part of puberty so you might be going through a phase.

I used to be afraid of the dark too and sleep with a night light. After a while I, really wanted to get over my fear so I slept without it and in the morning, my fears were GONE!!! You should try to sleep without one and I promise it will be fine.
