Rootbeerfloat has a bumpy question

Our post on hairy legs and shaving got a lot of comments - 87! Rootbeerfloat was one of them. Actually, she wrote in twice so she seriously wants an answer. Here's her question:

Comment 1
I have a leg question. I have little red bumps on the back of my legs. I have had them for as long as I can remember. What are they?!

Comment 2
Can someone PLEASE answer my question about the URB!!! (Unidentified Red Bumps). Again, I have these red bumps on the backside of my legs. I have had them next to forever. What are they?!

I hope this answer isn't too disappointing but red bumps could be a lot of things, including irritation due to shaving. Sometimes the best solution is to talk with a parent and have a doctor check them out.

Someone kindly wrote in to say that bumps are sometimes caused by a funny-sounding skin problem called molluscum contagiosum. Here's some info about that, but only the doctor can tell you for sure what your bumps are and if you need treatment for them.

Molluscum contagiosum

I get that to! After I shave I guess my legs get irritated. Putting cream usually helps me.

I've had that to, if you use a specific shaving cream/soap, try switching. Your legs could be getting irritated from it. That happened to me, and no shaving cream worked. So now I just use a hair removal cream or use an electric razor. Mostly hair removal cream though. P.S. The hair removal cream is called Veet.

Hey! I have a ? Has anyone ever had mono b4?? Cuz I have had it 4 a month and tried to get the PLS 2 answer but they haven't. I don't want 2 tell my friends cuz they freak out if u get a cold -r school is weird!! I rarely feel good and feel like I am just telling one lie after another just 2 hide it. I don't want them 2 know, but I feel bad telling them lies and making stuff up! They always ask me what is wrong and I say nothing- but I either have a killer headacheor my throat hurts or something. And, the other day I heard a boy in my class make fun of someone- and even though he was joking it was rude- he was like... Ew u have mono and then he was lol I'm joking. I don't know what he would say if he knew I actually have mono?? Also, 2 add 2 it, this girl is BOY CRAZY and she has made out with a guy b4- we r only 12 and in 7th grade. He was saying it like u have kissed a boy and now u have mono. I have NEVER kissed a boy. The only time I have really ever been alone with a boy was when I was in kindergarten and I was BFFs with this neighbor boy. Please help PLS!! Im not sure what 2 do cuz I'm so tired of being sick!!!

But I have had the bumps as long as I can remember! I am 11 and started shaving, but I've had them when I was 6! So it is not the shaving cream I use. What could it be?

I have shaving cream question. When I pressed the button to make it come out, it had a light brownish splotch in it. Is that normal for shaving cream?

It could be eczema, I've had it on my arms since I was a baby. If you shave it could be razor burn, if it is make sure you use something when you shave I use shaving gel. Hoped I helped!

I have eczema on my right cheek! It's sooooo annoying! I also get red bumps on my arm if I scratch my arm too hard for too long! They go away after a couple of hours though... Scratching you arm is a bad habit!
