Question 34: Kamryn needs some yoga

We loooooove yoga. It feels great and it helps you destressify. Kamryn wants some of that feel-good stretching! Just one caution. Yoga shouldn't hurt so take it easy. To learn to do poses right, it's best to take a class with a qualified instructor.

Dear PLS,
So, I do a lot of volleyball, 2 hours a day 6 days a week. And I could really use relaxing time, so could you give me examples of yoga poses??? Thank you!!!!
Kamryn, 12

We have two great yoga sequences for you. Check 'em out:

Sun salutation is an extremely easy yoga position. It helps you relax and calm down and control your breathing. You can do it if you're at a volleyball game and you're stressed. You can do it sitting or standing.

Hi Anonymous(11),

I recommend that you ask your pediatrician what are the best ways to lose weight.
If your appointment doesn't come quickly enough, I suggest doing yoga on a weekly basis and becoming involved in other outdoor activities such as bike riding.
Don't forget to eat healthy! Try to eat lean proteins like chicken breasts and mix it with some green beans or any type of green vegetable.
I hope this helps!

You're welcome, Anonymous!
I hope you are able to reach your healthy weight.
For me, I joined cross-country because I felt I wasn't getting enough exercise weekly. It really helped a lot!

I do tons of yoga as part of my freestyle ski training.. Some of my favorite poses are:

Bridge and full back bend
Shoulder stand
Reverse down-dog

They really help me stretch out! During volleyball season I did lots of yoga as well: especially on the mornings during which we have pratice at 5:55 in the morning! (yes, my coaches do that!) that way I am awake completely. I also do it before leaving for skiing a few mornings a week at 5 am.
