About losing weight

When we asked girls which questions they needed to have answered right away, we received a lot of questions about losing weight. And a number of you were very kind in writing encouraging notes to those girls.

But those questions and answers also made us think very hard about what we do here. There was a lot of pain in the questions from girls who believe they are overweight. And we want to send a very STRONG message about weight and being OK with your body.

1. We are happy if girls want to be healthy. And being at a healthy weight is part of that.
2. Don't assume you weigh too much and need to lose weight. Only a doctor can analyze your height and weight and body type. Ask a parent to see your doctor if you're concerned.
3. Eating healthy (more fruits, vegetables etc.) and being physically active is a good idea for EVERYBODY.
4. But don't try anything extreme. No crazy diets, no skipping meals, and no exercising in a way that's not good for you.
5. Try to avoid extreme thinking, too. Weighing yourself too much. Looking in the mirror to examine flaws and problems too much. Talking all the time about your weight and body size.
6. Accept the body you have and appreciate all the stuff it can do - ride a bike, turn a cartwheel, kick the heck out of a soccer ball. Focus on parts of your appearance that you already like. It's not being conceited to like something about how you look. Hey, your hair looks terrific!

Hey this is totally right! I lose weight by changing up my everyday foods to some thing healthier. EXAMPLE
Chips: salted almonds
Icecream: frozen non fat yogurt
Milkshake: fresh fruit smoothie
I also eat more fruits and vegetables. 2 1/2 cups of fruit a day, and 3 cups of veggies! During PE ill do an extra lap then needed and do my best in sports. I <3 sports! These things keep me healthy!

hey, jemma, i have the opposite of this. i need to GAIN wieght. i feel to thin, and never want to be seen in a bathing suit. people at school call me "chicken wrists" because my rms are tiny, even with my sports muscle. are there gaining diets?

Hello again. If you feel you are gaining weight you should talk with your mom. If you decide to do something, you can eat healthier and try a sport. If sports do not appeal to you, try to investigate about exercise routines that you can practice in your home. One more tip: do not try to starve or skip meals; these behaviors con develop into anorexia or bulimia and bring you serious consequences in the future. Good luck!!!.

Some kids at my school are only ten and they are going on a proper diet and I think that's ridiculous at that age you should be happy with who you are and enjoy your last year of primary school
I hope others agree
Ps I don't mind eating healthy that's perfectly fine but when you start eat hopelessly small proportions that what makes me wonder, why?

ughhh it frustrates me sooo much, anyways here's my story. I'm sorry for this long post, but this is whats going on right now, and i'm hoping to get advice from it. i used to be really heavy/fat and then my parents suggested for me to exercise more and eat more healthy foods ect. Then i guess i stared to grow so i lost lots of weight (like 10 pounds) and to me i was in good shape. then school came around and i guess my parents noticed how i was really busy in school and thought that i wasnt getting enough nutritions, so they urged me to eat more. i would do that and they would complain that i wasnt still leating enough, they would always think that i'm still too skinny, so i wanted to prove them that i was healthy. and so i ate more then the serving i would usually do. They would always urged me to eat more and more and more. It really annoyed me and so i ate and ate and ate. *I THINK MY POST IS TOO LONG SO I WILL CONTINUE WITH THE NXT POST*

I'm a pretty good size but, I've been having trouble with my appetite, I lost it!!!!
And for all those girls how think their chubby, just remember some of it could just be that you're losing baby fat a little slower.
But if you think you are to "LARGE" let's say. Keep your head up you could really change if you just excersize, eat right,and in some cases even sleep the right amount of time!

Hey. I hate the word "skinny". You can be really skinny but that doesn't mean you are pretty. It doesn't matter how skinny you are it just matter about being healthy. :)

I am 11 and 152cm tall. I weigh 44.5kg is this fat?? When I look at myself in the mirror I don't look fat. Is that because I have a good figure or I'm tall?? I eat well and get lots of exercise (8hours a week)
