Locker Room Advice Needed!

Another BIG topic lately has been locker rooms. Some girls are starting new schools, where they'll have to change for gym for the first time. What do you do? Isn't is terribly embarrassing?

I can tell you from experience that I was embarrassed at first, but I quickly got used to the routine. One trick is to have everything very organized and to not take off your shirt, for instance, until you have your gym shirt right there ready to go. Then it's one shirt off, one shirt on super quick.

Most girls worry someone will make fun of them for the kind of bra they have (or don't have) or the fact that they aren't shaving their legs yet. Try not to worry about this! I was always thinking that everyone was looking at me when, actually, that wasn't true. Most girls are worrying about their own bodies and thinking people are looking at them!

But we want to hear from you, Pink Locker girls. What's your best getting changed in the locker room advice?

Think pink!
Jemma

well, im 10 and going into 5th grade. in that, i have not yet started changing for gym class yet. i start in 6th grade, my first year of middle school.i would recomment if u think they will think ur kiddish, find a solid color bra. if they think ur boring, go for a printed bra. i would ask my friends what kind of bra they are wearing. also, if u dont want them seeing ur bra, face your locker, so all they can see is ur back strap.:)

Hi friends! If you have a skirt with no shorts under it, slip on your bottom half of your gym uniform and just take off your skirt! If you don't have a shirt under your other shirt, take off one and have the other ready so you can quickly change without anyone seeing. Or you could put the gym shirt on over your other shirt, take your arms out of both, slip your arms under your regular shirt and pull your arms through your gym one. now slip your other shirt through the neck of the other one. PRESTO! you've done it!!! Hope i helped!

OMG I got my period TODAY!!! Okay, to all you girls waiting for yours, just to say, it's sort of like a relief! My advice is to tell an older sister or someone before your mom if you're scared to tell your mom and it'll be alright! Good luck :D Also for locker rooms, it's totally fine. We learned a way to take off our shirt and put the gym shirt on without even showing your bra. And like Jemma said, most girls are worried more about themselves, not you! And nobody's gonna judge :)

Wear a bra, tanktop, or cami. it covers your torso. if you are afraid of changing pants, turn the other way when changing. i was really embarrassed at first, but my friends and i didnt really care. we just changed really fast (so we can beat the boys xD ) and the faster you change the more no one sees you. at first its embarrassing, but then after a few weeks, it seems like a weekly routine.

If you get uncomfortable with changing in front of people than just go change in a bathroom. If someone asks say you were doing your business. But people never look at you for fear of being made fun of. Like, why are you looking at her that way? And make sure you change in the bathroom while on your period. Never know if there's a stain on your underwear or if the wings of your pads show. But again people won't look at you.

Can someone please answer me? I'm starting school next week (I'm going into 7th grade), and we have these small, see-through lockers (see-through as in they have this metal net over them, so you can poke your fingers through...not very far though :P). The teachers say we can decorate them, but no wallpaper (obviously, considering it's see-through. And I wanted some ideas for decoration. Any ideas? Thank you guys!

Jemma do you think you can do a question/blog thing about makeup? Like when and where you should wear it ? I don't know when to wear it like at school only? By the way, my mom bought me eyeliner mascara and lipgloss so she will let me wear it. I just dont want to wear too much though! I'm going into 8th grade and a lot of girls start wearing makeup now and I kind of want to wear a little, since my mom is letting me. I just don't know if you will do this question since the blog is mainly about puberty and latey bras but it really will help me thanks to whoever answers my question(:

If your scared about people seeing your chest/bra, you can always wear a tank top under your normal shirt that day, then just throw on your gym shirt over the tank top when it comes time to change. Also, if you don't feel that you're ready for a bra yet, you can try a tank top. Some even have built in bras in them. If you arent ready for a soft cup or padded bra, you can use a sports bra or training bra. If you out grow training bras, but aren't for a padded bra, you could go with a training bra that has removable liners.

remember that everyone in the entire school is going to change in the locker rooms. there are probably AT LEAST 20 girls who feel the same way as you do. your not alone. also, dont take off both your pants and your shirt at the same time, change from one shirt to the other, the one pair of pants/skirt to the other.

you could also wear a thin fabriced (if that's a word) skin-colored camisole underneathe your shirts at all times to avoid anyone seeing your bra

If u feel like people are watching you then turn away if people make fun of you just ignore them or say you don't care if you show you dont care theyll leave you alone also try getting a lot of different bras and see which brand size and color work best for you

If you see someone with a cell phone in the locker room TELL A TEACHER. There was an incident in my area where a boy paid a girl to take pictures of other girls getting undressed in the locker room. This thing doesn't always happen, but when it does it's scary.

Ahh. I remember my 6th grade years. Believe me, locker rooms have always been, and will always be, a BIG deal, especially for the 'newbies'. I know it sounds cheesy, but try not to worry about it too much. Our first day of locker room, we were all so shy! But eventually, we figured it out. Just get what you need to get done, and whalaa, it's over! Eventually, it'll stop being a big deal, and will even turn into a routine! Here's a few 'extra' tips to make sure things go smooth and steady:
1. Make sure you're clean and presentable.
2. Do what you need to do, and don't dilly daddle.
3. DON'T show more than what you NEED to show. This is a bigie!
4. Just relax!
5. Ignore the haters. Just go one with your day. Remember, haters gonna hate, waiters gonna wait, potatoes gonna potate, alligators gonna alligate.
Hope this helps ! Good luck! c:

Hey guys, this is what i do on gym days:

-Wear a tanktop or cami
-Wear short shorts instead of taking off your pants (if you can!)
-Face the lockers
-Go quick!
-For earrings, bring tuperware (plastic containers)
-Bring 2 hair ties; One for your hair, one for your shirt(if it's too big!)
And
-Bring a pad!!!
Hope I could help! :)

I'm 13 and I haven't had my period yet, and I'm just starting to develop. People make fun of how I'm really skinny. I think I'm more muscular though, because I'm really strong and I even have a 6-pack. Now adays, I usually just try to get in the locker room before others, and get in one of the stalls.

I'm going into sixth grade as well. I'm a little nervous also. But I'm sure it will be fine. I mean. We're covered up by our underwear and bra. ( if u have one ) if u don't have a bra then I suggest standing against a wall with your back showing so people don't see your chest. Everyone wears underwear, so don't be embarrassed. I'm nervous because there will be people there that I don't know. But like I said before. There's no reason to be. So good luck!! To both of us. :)
