How do you know if your bra fits?

How do you know if your bra fits? This is a great question and it's been popping up here and there on the blog. Katelyn offered some good tips:

  • If your bra is causing red marks on indentations on your skin, it's probably too small.
  • If the cups are all loose and puckery and they don't fit smoothly, your bra may be too big.
Remember that you can usually adjust the shoulder straps using those plastic buckle-y things. It sometimes helps to adjust the straps before you put it on, or get someone to help you once it's on.

Also, if your bra hooks in the back there may be three different sets of hooks to make it tighter or looser around your rib cage.

We've suggested going to a store where someone will officially measure you. But some of you worry that the measuring will be awkward. You can do your own at-home measuring using the bra-fitting tips here:

What's My Bra SIze?

Final tip of the day! If you are trying on bras and aren't sure if you like the fit, put your shirt on over the bra. Does it look good? If so, it's probably worth buying. If not, return it to the rack and keep trying.

Any other bra-fitting tips out there, Pink Locker girls?

Think pink!

If it falls down to your hips, it's too big.
If it squeezes the air out of you, it's to small.

I think they defiantly make your boobs look bigger, but it depends who you are when it comes to comfort. Some people find sport bras more comfortable; each to their own!

I LOVE my new bra! It's adorable and comfy. Before, I just wore camisoles and they didn't give much protection when my sister periodically elbows me in my chest by accident.

If you are constantly pulling it up throughout the day, it's too big. If it's ready to pop, it's too small. If it is comfortable and not tight or loose then you're good.

I WAS Katelyn, so now I have changed it. I might try out some other names. Again, I would be HAPPY to answer your questions. I think MOST of you are a year younger than me, some the same age. Ut helps to have someone who has a years more of experience!

@Anonymous, When I'm on my period, blood doesn't come out in the shower. I don't really know why, but that's just what happens to me. Hope this helped you! :)

@anonymous, if your bra is too small, you should measure yourself. This is how you do it: Measure under your breasts whith one of those bendy tape measurers. That will say if your bra size is a 28, 32, 30, or whatever (the band size). If you get an odd number, round up. (29 would be 30.) Then measure over your nipples, and subtract that number from the band size. Like, if your chest size is 32, and your your nipples size is 33, you would be a 32 A. A is when you subtract and there is 1 inch diff., B is 2, c is 3. If you have no difference, you are an AA. (And you should be in training bras still.)

Umm, this is a weird question, but has anyone else had a problem with their bra being too low cut? I got new ones yesterday, but mine were really low cut and the space in between the seam and the nipple was less than an inch. Oh and I used your advice Jemma

September 9, 2012 at 7:22 PM
Anonymous katelynla said...

Yeah, for some reason they make a lot of bras low cut. Sports bras usually aren't. If you don't want the low cut kinds, buy the sports bras. Anyways, you'll get used to it. especiallyt if you have a tank top over it.

Any advice on wear to buy good bras in canada?

Yes you can take a shower. For me, I do not usually see blood while showering but once you finish, quickly get a pad/tampon on or learn the hard way like me. You can also shower with a tampon if you want to.

It could be because ur bra is to small or the straps/band are too tight. So you may need a C. It could also be because your bras are very low cut. I see those types of bras a lot nowadays. If so, try to find one that is not very low cut so it comes more over ur boob.

Also, it doesn't matter if ur boobs are bigger than ur mom's boobs. Some people wish that they could be in ur position. Stand tall and be proud of who u are.

So, everyone says they don't want to wear sports bras because they come up so high, but in the women's section which also has extremely small sizes, at Target there are C9 Champion sports bras with adjustable straps. They can come up higher, or go lower.

If you are constantly pulling it up throughout the day, it doesn't always mean that it's too big. The straps could just be too loose.

You might never get to read this, but I have your exact problem. I even have a 13 yr old sister whose bras I tried on and they were a tiny bit big and she has a size 34A too, and I would like that answer too. So, you're not alone~
