What's your school like?

We've had so many posts about school lately, that I thought why not have a post all about your school? I'm guessing you all go to different types of schools - public schools, private schools, small schools, big schools, schools that focus on certain subjects, like science or the arts. And of course, we have some frequent visitors who are home schooled.

So here's today's question: What's your school like? What's the best and worst things about your school? What is your idea of a perfect day at school?

Think pink!

My school is a private school. Our main colors are purple, gold, and white. My school is preschool through highschool. Also its beautifully decorated! Theres purple, yellow (we havennt invested in gold flowers), and white flowers that border the school, pine trees, and cherry trees, and maple trees are in lots of places too! Its usually hot since its in california, and in the spring it rains a lot. But i love my school

My school isn't all that bad. It's a public school. We're a school of about 400 kids. My favourite part of my school though, is how all the kids there are able to mingle with different people from different races or backgrounds. I have friends from all over! And I love how we have a program for kids with autism and a program for kids who are deaf. We're definitely NOT the wealthiest but I feel lucky to have a school like mine anyways.

Think Pink and Happy Thanksgiving to anyone in Canada! :P

Well this is my first year in middle school and I lIved across the street from my elementary school, and now my middle school is 20 minutes away and the worst part is that I go to school with a bunch of rich kids and they all think there better than my school. Plus I'm like whole foot taller than everyone else.

My school is a four-floor military private school. It has great teachers and the kids are very friendly. The only thing wrong with my school is the principal. He creeps me out. A LOT. My idea of a perfect day at school is not messing up my locker combo, making it to every class ON TIME, remembering all of my homework, and having a healthy, delicious lunch. :)

Hi all! I go to a private Christian school and my class only has 9 kids! 37 kids in all of middle schoo1. I have friends who go to other schools, so I know that is not normal, haha! :) We all know each other pretty well. We have our ups and downs, but we all try to respect one another. The thing I hate is most is when kids disrespect each other and/or the adults (teachers, staff, etc). But I love when we all get along and everyone is laughing and agreeing. I also love my education. Thanks PLS for creating this website - it is really helpful! You guys are...(*thinking of a cool verb*)...ROBUST and RADICAL! :D

My school is HUGE and you can get lost in it. There are so many people too. The locker space is always crowded. I love my school because of how safe it feels to be just utterly surrounded by other people your age.

My school is a tiny private school from kindergaten-8th grade. the whole school has exactly 200 kids and 30 teachers/staff. there is no cafeteria so i have to make my own lunch everyday which is kind of stressful (especially at 6:30 am.) but also my school is all progressive-education, so its nice to go on field-trips all the time, and have little kid buddys.

I really need help! Please!
I'm overweight, but not obese. My mom keeps talking about going on a diet and how I'm supposed to go on it with her. I have already said no but she is not taking no for an answer. I just don't understand how she expects me not to be mad. I thought that kids (unless they are extremely obese) are supposed to be worrying about diets!!! Is this even allowed? Is she allowed to force me into it? I really need some help I'm so upset! Neither her or my dad were overweight at kids (they are both overweight now) and they totally don't get it! What do I do?

Then we would read for two hours, then have art class for forty five minutes, then have volleyball games. Then we would have lunch. After that we would have to run one lap around the football annd base ball field instead of 3 laps (what we do usually) in PE, then we would have music class and then we would hangout more

my school= weird. im in grade 7 but the high school is in the same building... they're supposed to be seperate but there not... in first quarter i have a class in the senior, freshman, and just general highschool hallways. my grade is kind of big for our ' junior high' about 185 kids. we have same bells as high school, same cafeteria... we have exams too. it's weird... we also don't have busses... there's a lot of other weirdness too... i can't even explain it...random example; my math teacher used to teach murderers math in a corrections facility, he teaches at a university (math to music and theatre majors) and seventh grade honors math... he's just generally odd.

Our colors are purple, teal, and grey!
I was happy on my first day because all of my teachers are reallly nice, and i didnt get any of the mean or strict ones.
I am a cheerleader, and despite the beliefs of cheerleaders being the "popular" kids, some of the other girls dont like us because it's the cheerleader stareotype for them to be snobby and stuff. But it's fun to cheer at games!
I am also in drama club! I LOVE acting!
I hope all of youu like your school as much as i like mine!

K so my school is totally EPIC!!! It's a charter, called Math and Science Academy. Sounds lame right, well its not!! It's really small, so you could have like 13-25 people in a class. So you get the one on one with the teacher. It's slightly harder, but if you listen and try your best you could easily het B's, and possibly A's. The teachers are all SO NICE AND FUNNY!! We also have this thing called Dork Olympics before Winter Break, where basically the Class clowns and funny people sign up to do these really funny mini competitions, like Chubby Bunny or funny things like that. The Local news even came to video tape it!!! It's so much fun, and there aren't ANY mean people. No lie.

I hate going to school and I beg my parents everyday to keep me home or start homeschooling me. The school, it isn't very good. And 'cause I hate school, it makes this school, that I go to, worse. I study in a public school. I was born in Fiji. When I started my school in year 7, mean girls and boys started bullying me. I felt really sad. But now its ok. We are learning about Growth and Development. Everyone in my class knows a lot about it but I don't know a single thing. And my mum wouldn't tell be and I am scared to ask her about it because she is so grumpy. I don't have anyone to talk with. Next year I am going to high school and I am really scared of bullying and people asking me about growth and development. I am 12 years old and I have only pubic hair and tiny grown breast. I feel really embarrassed.

Can you please give some advises?

I'm 11 and i dont have pubic hair or "bras" but really, its not a competition of who develops fastest- you'll just have to wait until your body decides its ready. Its nothing to be embarresed about. you can also learn about puberty here at pls or go to kidshealth.org, they have some pretty good info.

Dear those of you you in grade six or younger,
the drama, the crushes, puberty, and the work all start in grade 7 and up. My best advice is to just go with the flow, and don't say or do ANYTHING you would regret, or wouldn't do/say in front of your grandparents. Study often, and finish all your work, the good study habits will help. Also, do NOT judge a book by it's cover. I used to think a bunch of people in my grade were annoying, but now, I've gotten to know them better, and they're all really cool! Get to know your classmates, even if you dislike them!
