The most wonderful time of the year?

Lights, holiday music, and your favorite sugar cookies - there's so much to look forward to and enjoy at this time of year. But, I was recently reminded, that some people might be feeling a little empty or sad because they are missing a loved one who has died.

Maybe you have lost someone special to you and you can remember how it felt to celebrate holidays or observe favorite traditions without them. Maybe you will have advice for someone who's dealing with that kind of a loss.

If you or a friend are feeling that way, here is something good to read: When Somebody Dies

It's also a good idea to talk with an adult if you are feeling sad, especially if it's making you feel less like doing the things you usually enjoy.

Think pink!

I remember when my brother's friend's mom died. She died from lung cancer: even though she did not smoke. At that day when my parents told me, I felt broken. I never really knew how much she meant to me...

You might feel sad when somebody dies, and you might be a bit on the sadder side when you're supposed to be happy, but always remember that they are always with you, on Earth or in Heaven. And one day you'll be with them. Smile. :)

Merry christmas (or whatever you guys celebrate) and a happy new year. Losses are most noticed at Christmas cause thats when "everyone" gets together to celebrate and if someones missing you notice it more. :(. Try to smile anyway, even though I know its hard. (my great grandma died in november when I was 9)

When someone dies just remember that they are on a better place. They may not be with you physically but they are always going to be watching over you.

Hi guys! When I was in 1st grade, one of my friend's dad died. He had cancer and pneumonia. Luckily for us though, we didn't really understand. But he has an older sister who was in the 6th grade when it happened. When I really l think about it, it makes me really sad, even though I hardly remember him. I remember him always playing with us. Even though it's 6 years later, it still feels weird. So anyways, My friend is, well it's hard to explain. He has a different way of looking at the world. He's very bright, but I can still never really understand what he's thinking. So yes, I understand how hard it is. But I just want to say, when someone/something dies, you have a hole in your heart where that person should be. But when you think about it. That person wouldn't want you to be so upset. Probably all they want is to be remembered. It's ok to be sad, but don't let sadness rule your life.

Happy holidays~

Cutiecake123 thats really sad. :( I don't have any grandparents left. I didn't really know them though.... but not having grandparenst is better than not having a dad or mom, or aunt and uncle. But anyways... on that note.... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! :D

@Cutiecake123 I agree completely :) In fact that's how I've always tried to think of it. My cello teacher, who was really special to me (not only as a teacher but an amazing friend and person), passed away a little over a year ago. It still makes me sad to think of but I always try to think that she wouldn't want me to be sad.

My nana died this summer and I'm sad and surprised. But during this season, it's best to have a scrapbook with you to remember them. Also, just know they are still with you mentally. :)

I'm so sorry 4 everyone that has lost a loved one. When I was six (6 years ago) my great-grandfather pasted away. Christmas that year was so hard on everyone (especially my great-grandmother). It's so sad to lose a loved one but just think about what they would want u to do. They wouldn't want u 2 miss out on the fun of the holidays because of them. It's really hard but u have to be strong 4 the rest of ur family. So as hard as it may be, just be happy on Dec 23-26 and enjoy all the craziness and fun. After all it is the season of joy & happiness don't let it be the opposite 4 u! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! Enjoy ur families!

I think that if someone passes on they wouldn't want their loved ones to be sad on Christmas. So try to keep a good spirit, for their sake, and hopefully the holiday cheer will be contagious and spread on to the other grieving people in your life. Merry Christmas everybody!
