Let's talk about religion

Recently, some of our favorite blog visitors suggested we ask some getting-to-know-you questions. One was: What religion are you?

I commented that I thought that might be too personal. And some of you have responded in the opposite direction. You say you are proud of your religion and have no problem saying what it is.

That's wonderful that you feel that way. Religion and spirituality can guide us to be better people and help create a better world. So to make our position more clear, you are welcome to mention your religion, if you like. We have one visitor who often ends her comments with God Bless You Guys! That is perfectly fine.

But there's a difference between someone who takes it upon herself to mention her religion and how it might feel to be asked "What's your religion?' if you didn't feel comfortable answering. I'm sure you can understand that some people might think that's a personal question. And others might not practice any religion.

So continue to enjoy this blog as a free-flowing space where girls can talk about just about anything. I think it would be very interesting to hear how religion affects the way you look at the world, so those who would like to talk about it, please do.

Think pink!
Jemma

First of all I believe in God, and I'm proud of my religion. Religion is something very important for the developement of this world. The world is filled with people, each with a different pesonality, belief and mind. Personally I think it's impossible to get everyone to believe in the same thing. Every religion deserves to be treated respectfully all over the world and people should be given freedom to follow their religions as they want to. In many places people are being forced to follow a certain religion against their wishes, and they are being harassed cause of the religion they follow. This is never gonna help the world move on well. We should be given the chance to be what we want to. I think PLS should have a profile section where we can express ourselves better.

I know that Christ lives and will come again. I believe that we have been saved for the latter days. I know I'm a daughter of God and that he will help me through all of my trials. I'm posting from my phone so the name won't work but I'm ViolinistAtSoul. By the way this ist is completely off topic. Anyway you may remember me from around this time last year. I was the girl wondering if I should give my chrush a valentine or not. Well long story short, I decided to give him one and the day I was going to give it to him he quit violin. I haven't seen him since. But i need guy help again. I started this new co-op where I go to "school" once a week with other homeschoolers. I found a guy there who is SUPER cute. The past couple of classes we have both gotten to our last class about 10 minuets early and have talked untill class starts. Usually we talk about school assignments and sometimes we talk about gymnastics which we both do (but at different gyms so I don't see him). Anyway yesterday was our first day back after break and he was home with the flu so I was all sad the whole day. I think he may like me but I'm not sure. So my question is how can I tell if he likes me and what should I do next?? I need help please!! Thanks so much!

@ purple rose, We are Christian but most religions accuse us of lying and tell us we aren't Christian. Here is one of the articles of faith, We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men to worship how, where, or what they may. This means our church respects others opinions and religions. We don't force people to come to our church.

Well I'm a Muslim. You guys may think we are evil and terorists, but believe me not every Muslim is like that.Islam means peace. So please don't hate our religion. The Muslims who offend other religions aren't exactly good Muslims like they think they are. Offending any other religion is forbidden in Islam. I'm proud of my religion and have no fear expressing it. I believe terrorists aren't doing the right thing killig people. If they don't mend their ways they'll have to regret later. So please don't get the wrong idea about my religion there are surprisingly more good people in this world than bad people.

Hi guys! I like that we are allowed to who we are through religion. I am atheist/agnostic, but mostly atheist. My mom is theist, my dad is atheist and we are all entitled to our own opinion in my family. I have friends that are hindu, atheist, theist, persian, muslim and so on! So yes I'm happy for everyone who isn't afraid to show who they are through religion as long as they aren't offending others!

Me, I am mixed raced. My mom has dark skin, my dad has light skin and I have family members who are chinese and muslim and scottish and a bunch of other things and I'm very proud to come from so many different races and religions. Everyone is equal and should be treated the same.

I think Im open minded, to every concept of God or gods. For a while, I threw a piece of my dinner into the fire every nigh for the Ancient Greek Gods of Olympus. :) Right now, Im Angelican.
Still, my verson of Heaven changes every day to how I think it should be that day.
Hehehe!

Hi everyone! I'm an atheist. Most of my family is just undecided. Even though I don't believe in any gods, I respect people that do. Everyone has an opinion and I respect that. The only thing I can't handle is when someone tries to convert me to their religion. I have a friend who used to give me little booklets from her church that explained what would happen to me if I didn't have faith in God. The good thing is that she understands now that everyone can have their own opinions.

Sorry for how long this is... <3

@Vanillagirl,
Yay! i agree, i am a muslim too. our religion is a beautiful religion, and the terrorists who give us a bad name are pretty much ignorant and so decide that they are muslims. Islam does mean peace, but theres much more to it. We respect other peoples religions obviously. But we believe our religion is the true religion what person wouldn't believe their religion is true!

sorry too for dragging this...

I think its a good thing that everyone is proud of their religion.
No one should hate anyone for their religion, their beliefs are part of who they are but does not make them a bad person.
We should respect each others beliefs and and try to learn about them too!
You cant paint everyone with the same brush, or blame someone for the mistakes of someone else with a similar religion.

Funny, isn't it, how there's so many different sects of a religion eg, Islam and Chrisitianity. but when people mention the religion they include (sometimes blame) them all. lol .

Peace, to you all

I am hindu..now I have a religion cum periods problem.my friends and I are going to a temple as a part of a school excursion, and I am on my periods....so it's like there's some sort of unwritten rule for temples where girls during TOM can't enter...but I don't know,I asked a lot of people why and the only answer I got was that that is how it is suppose to be...I asked my mother and she told me that it's up to me to decide whether to go imside the temple or noe, btw, the temple is beautiful and I do want to go ...I just don't get it,,,,why are periods considered so 'unclean'??

I'm a hindu too-
The rule about periods and temples and gods etc.. was just made for the conveniance of women- so that they don't trouble themselves unnecesarily doing puja when they have their period (it was considered painful). If you are not uncomfortable or you don't have cramps, it is not against hinduism to go inside a temple.
But if your family culture totally forbids you, then don't go inside the inner sanctum where the god is kept and the pujari (priest) does the Aarti. Ask one of your friends to get you the Prasad, take a pradakshina (you'll know how to do it if you've been to a temple before) and pray from outside.

Hope I helped!!

(P.S.- If you don't understand the Sanskrit terms i've used, ask your mom)

I am a Muslim and I would like to inform the world that I respect other people regardless of race, religion, and political grounding. And, superbunny? I silently support you in your religious steadfastness and am telling you that you should try 'n dismiss others' teasing - they're not really making themselves sound intelligent...

My gratitude to you all and may Salam (peace) be upon you.
