No sweat, Tanisum!

OK, time to start answering all the questions we've received below on the Tanisum post. We'll start - of course - with Tanisum's question. She wants to know about sweating and how to control it. So let's talk sweat!

Everyone sweats. Our skin has tiny holes called pores and sweat glands under the skin squirt out sweat to keep us cool. It works great! But what's not so great is your shirt getting all wet under your arms. Big circles of wet sweat sometimes appear. Sweat itself doesn't smell but sweat can lead to body odor when sweat mixes with bacteria (germs).

There are three steps you can take if you are concerned about sweating and smelling:

1)Shower or bathe regularly. Every day is often best, especially if you have been exercising or if it's warm out.

2)Wear clean clothes and wash clothes that get sweaty/smelly, especially sports uniforms and gym uniforms.

3)Wear deodorant/antiperspirant. Mild ones are best and you can ask your mom, an older sister, or your doctor, if you are unsure which kind to get. Read the labels. A deodorant will help with smell, but an antiperspirant will help reduce the amount of sweat and wetness.

Any other advice, Pink Locker girls? How do you stay dry and smelling good?

Think pink!

I have a sweating problem too! Sometimes using baby powder dries up the sweat. Sweat stains can be embarrassing - I know! :( When people look at my sweat stains I want to crawl under a rock. I casually hide them deeper into my pits and when I am alone I air them out and they eventually go away. Glad I'm not the only one :D

On a warm day or when you feel hot, don't keep your sweater on. Take it off and let yourself cool off. AHHHHH BREEZE!!

I like to wear Fil's or Nike shirts when I'm running or exercising because it really soaks up the sweat! And I agree with coolgabs1216, tank tops r the way to go. If your super embarrassed, u can wear a light jacket over it. Hop I helped!

When I run around outside when it is hot, my face turns REALLY REALLY REALLY red and people ask, "why is your face like a tomato?" and I just explain and try to deal with it. I hear that perfume overpowers the smell, but then it makes it worse after a while. I wouldn't recommend it. Some people are allergic to perfume.

OOH. I got a lot of tips with sweat. I get used to get a lot of unfortunate pit stains. But, I found a way around it. I was actually reading one of my sisters' makeup magazine which had deodorant in it. Anyway, if you are the type of person who gets a lot of big pit stains, put on deodorant at night and again in the morning. It helps you not get as many pit stains and it doesn't make your armpits white or anything. You would wake up after a really long hot night and smell good! I sometimes "casually" check if I have pit stains in the washroom sometimes. I fix my hair and then see if I have any and keep my arms down if I do.

If it's a really hot day or if you exercise i find that if you wear shirts and shorts that are breathable or soak up the sweat, the stains aren't as visible. It really works!

All you have to do is take a bath twice or thrice.
Use an antiperspirant in the morning and whenever you feel like it.
Don't always do that because sweat is good for you in some other way.Hope I helped!

Hi there!
I noticed that a couple girls said wear perfume or body sprays. I am not trying to say anything mean or put anyone down just so you don't take things the wrong way. But my mom told me about this gal and she didn't put on deodorant or antiperspirant. But she used some wonderful smelling perfume. (My mom worked with her btw). But this lady would start to sweat and try to cover it up with more smells and while she thought she smelled great, everyone was walking the other direction at the smell of her. If she walked into the room and you had your eyes closed then you would still be able to tell that it was her. Some people are allergic too. Have showers regularly and think pink!

This comment is for the person who wanted to know how to ask for a bra. Ask your mom if you could talk privately. Then simply tell her that you would feel more comfortable wearing a bra. Just remember that your mom went through the same changes you are, and she really has how you feel in mind. My mom did and I'm sure yours will too! Remember to be confedent! :) :) :)
