Take back the selfie!

We've all done it. Taken a selfie, or 42 of them, trying to make ourselves look absolutely stunning. To hide the size of our nose or minimize our hair that goes boing-boing! instead of sitting smoothly on our heads like we were in a shampoo ad. But here's the thing about selfies. They can be good if they help you appreciate the loveliness that is you. But not so good if you can only see the imperfections.

That's why this video is so interesting. The filmmaker challenged girls to take selfies without hiding what they feel are their worst features. Just to take a photo and let the real, natural girl shine through. Then they asked other people to look at, and comment on, the photos. Great news: People saw beautiful smiles and wildly wonderful hair.

Maybe try this selfie experiment with some friends. Take selfies and share them with each other. Find ways to comment in a positive way about what you see in your friends' photos. Note the features you like or the sparkle about them that makes you happy they are your friend. What if you could see all the ways that your friends find you beautiful? You might never look at yourself the same way again.
Think pink!

I like it. True beauty comes from the hard work we do to improve our personality and kindness. Building our self esteem comes from serving others. Every girl is beautiful, either inside or out, but most importantly the inside. Stay beautiful!

to Anonyomous with the discharge problem:
You could try that. I have a daily discharge and no period too. Personally, I just put toilet paper in my underpants, so discharge doesn't leave a mark on it. That's good enough for me, but if you don't want to do that, you can ask your mom and sis. that sounds like a good idea.

Hey there! Each time when I have my hair/ clothes in a different style, I take a round of selfies. Then I select the best ones, and put them in a folder called "ME". Then I go back and look at how pretty I am. It helps when I'm feeling down or icky during my period.

It seems like no comments are being posted onto this topic. None have showed up for 4 days.
Also, I posted a comment that might've had something you didn't like in it, so it makes sense if it didn't get posted because of that. But then, I decided that since it wasn't showing up, I would take a comment that I commented on a different post, because it could be used to answer this question too. So, I copy-pasted that comment (it was already accepted as a comment), and tried to comment it. Now it still hasn't shown up. Could you please let my comment through? Please?

find another person you feel is a good freind, make new freinds and see if they can help, tell a trusted adult if that person continues to bull you!,

My mom says that pretty doesn't last, and that there have been lots of women that people thought were very beautiful because of who they were on the inside. A loving heart makes you pretty, not your hair. Being good looking is just luck, and opinion, being a good person is something you can work towards, and something that lasts forever.

Wow, this vidieo has made me realise that there is nothing wrong with me and I can be who I want to be and have no doubt about it because I'm beautiful just the way i am am. No doubt about it!
During the first couple of weeks of year 6, I was really insecure with the way I was because I felt I was too skiny to fit into anything at all and I slowly started to lose my smile and my self-confidence. But now I know it was all for nothing because I am beautiful no matter what people say.

I loved this video! It really showed how real beauty is in everyone. Many people are obsessed with there looks which makes unhappy and not love their life, this is naming the social media aspect.
People who are stuck in the life of "I Am NOT Beautiful" can't find the true and totally REAL beauty in them.
Thank you, PLS, for posting this amazing video every person in the world should see!!

In my personal opinion, people are missing the total point in this project. Even though they are saying that everyone has beautiful qualities, they are saying that outward beauty matters. They should focus on inner beauty rather than telling girls outward beauty is a quality that should be cared about.

What i do is i take about 10-20 selfies, all at different angles and positions and i pick ONE decent one from those 20 and decide to post that. I delete the rest. I've come to realize that no one needs to do that. Everyone is beautiful just the way they are in any picture, at any angle. Your weight or size or teeth or hair or scars don't define YOU. Because if you stay true to yourself no one can bring you down. No matter what they do or say don't let anyone tell you what to be. You're all beautiful and gorgeous and perfect just the way you are! (:
